Strategy 2030

In many European societies, including Bulgaria, democratic life is marked by low trust, weak participation, and unresolved engagement with the recent past. Sofia Platform Foundation works within this context, focusing on civic education, historical memory, and practical forms of participation that strengthen democratic culture over time.

Vision
A Bulgaria that remembers, thinks critically, and participates freely.

Mission
We turn understanding of the past and of today’s challenges into civic participation.

Our strategy for the period 2025–2030 sets out our goals, priorities, and approach to sustainable development. It builds on more than ten years of practical experience and long-term partnerships with educators, institutions, and diverse communities.

Learn how we plan to realise change across each priority by reading the full strategy.

Part of the long-term mission of the Sofia Platform Foundation is to transform the remains of Bulgaria’s largest communist labour camp – Belene – into a place that not only preserves the memory of the regime’s victims, but also inspires active civic engagement, critical thinking, and responsibility for the future.
