Our Mission

The Sofia Platform Foundation is a non-governmental organization, registered in public interest. Our mission is focused in these three main fields:

Enhancing the democratic political culture with means of citizenship education and civic dialogue.

Promoting remembrance and dealing with the communist past through historical dialogue and education..

Informing the debate on historical legacy, transition and democracy consolidation through research and public discussions.

Sofia Platform has an extensive track record in projects dealing with the remembrance of the communist past, both in Bulgaria and internationally.

Over the past almost 10 years Sofia Platform has worked with hundreds of experts, trained thousands of teachers in certified trainings, worked with thousands of students in more than one hundred locations across Bulgaria. From publishing teaching materials, to developing audio-visual tools and testing them in practice, Sofia Platform has become a lead innovator and support organization for formal and non-formal history and civic educators in Bulgaria.
