COMPASS Europe: Civic Education and Dialogue for Europe’s Future is a pan-European initiative supporting those who help citizens make sense of Europe as it faces overlapping pressures and hard choices. Across the continent, people are living with the consequences of systemic crises – war at Europe’s borders, climate pressure, economic strain, technological disruption, and declining trust in democratic institutions. These challenges are often discussed at the EU level, but they are felt locally, in classrooms, neighbourhoods, workplaces, and communities. Many citizens experience Europe as distant or difficult to grasp, even when its decisions shape their everyday lives.

Goals

• Promoting dialogue between citizens and those involved in formal and non-formal civic education regarding the future of the European Union and its democratic priorities;
• Supporting understanding and a sense of belonging to the values and institutions of the European Union;
• Contributing to the development of a shared European identity, based on belonging, solidarity, and cooperation.

Activities

• Organizing four events in the NECE Campus format, aimed at those engaged in formal and non-formal civic education, youth workers, representatives of civil society organizations, as well as representatives of institutions responsible for policies in these fields;
• Organizing three events in the NECE Lab format, aimed at those engaged in formal and non-formal civic education, youth workers, and representatives of civil society organizations.

The project “Compass Europe” is implemented by a consortium led by the CIVICS Innovation Hub, together with the partners Sofia Platform Foundation, New Community Foundation (Poland), and Znanje na djelu (Croatia).
