
Reading during Socialism: the GDR and the PRB (2023)
The exhibition "Reading through Socialism: GDR and PRB" invites you on a journey through the literature of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) and the People's Republic of Bulgaria (PRB). It comprises 24 posters in 70×50 cm format with texts, photos and videos. 20 posters are dedicated to reading in East Germany, and 4 to Bulgarian literature during socialism, the main topics being: "Rainbow" magazine, Georgi Markov and Radoi Ralin, the historical novel and "Narodna Kultura" publishing house.
The exhibition "Reading through Socialism: GDR and PRB" is an easily accessible cultural and educational offer that you can easily exhibit. It offers an ideal environment for projects with pupils and students, lectures, reports, discussions or movie nights. It is suitable for display in community centers, schools, universities, cultural centers, libraries, museums or in a public/private institution.

Activities:
Within the project, the Sofia Platform Foundation, together with the Institute for the Study of the Recent Past and the New Bulgarian University, is working on:
1. Creation of the four posters dedicated to Bulgarian literature during socialism. The main topics of these panels: "Rainbow" magazine, Georgi Markov and Radoi Ralin, the historical novel and "Narodna Kultura" publishing house.
2. Creation of audiovisual materials for each of the Bulgarian posters. You can watch all the videos here.
3. Providing 50 free poster sets for display
4. Public discussion panel during the exhibition "Reading through socialism - GDR and NRB" in the "Hristo Botev" community center, Belene
Materials:
